Once every six months or so, I go out with a group of friends that I've known since the high school days. We laugh about old times, share stories about our now grown kids and talk about our futures. It's a lot of fun, and I look forward to seeing them, having conversation, enjoying a nice meal and listening to good music.
But inevitably, this evening ends up costing me half my budget for groceries in food and drinks, I usually drive for 45 minutes, to get to our meeting place, I never have anything to wear that I feel is "presentable", and then I have to drive home, after midnight, another 45 minutes on the tollway again. It's a great time, while it's happening but I find the preparation and the financial "aftermath " to be daunting.
The "Other Friday Night"
Then, there is the "other" Friday night. The simple Friday night. This evening also consists of great company, good food , great conversation and awesome music.
Curious as to what I do?
My boyfriend and I go to the local bookstore, spend a couple bucks on a fun puzzle, like the White Mountain Puzzles Tasty Treats - 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle, make a plate of nachos (loaded of course), put on our favorite classic rock radio station, and puzzle our little hearts out for hours on end!
We talk about everything under the sun, sing along to our favorite music and have the best time ever! And if we hear Stairway to Heaven, Free Bird and Bohemian Rhapsody, the trifecta of classic rock, it makes the evening even that much better!
Try this one night, I guarantee you'll find it as addicting as we do and you'll be up till 2am finishing your masterpiece!
