Well, we are three weeks into the New Year and I’m happy to announce that I’ve been holding on to my New Year’s Resolution! I know, I know, it’s only 21 days into 2019, but typically, by this time, I don’t even remember what I attempted as a resolution.
Every. Single. Day.
This year, I chose something that I think is very attainable. It's not too time consuming and is good for me both physiclly and emotionally. This year I resolved to practice yoga, every single day, for 365 days. And I don’t mean, 365 “times” during the year, skipping some days and doubling up on others, I mean every single day for 365 days.
Every. Single. Day.
It's about Commitment
For me this is not just about fitness goals, it is about commitment.
I need to prove to myself that I can do this, that I can make this a priority and accomplish this.
To date, This has been doable with the help of my very favorite You Tube Yogi, Sarah Beth of Sarahbethyoga.com.
She has hundreds of videos to choose from, even videos for every day of the week so its simple to keep my yoga practice fresh. The videos are as short as 10 minutes or as long as an hour. This helps me tailor my practice to what suits me that day. And, if I don’t complete my practice in the morning, she has many “Bedtime” yoga videos so I can be sure I get my practice complete within my 24 hours.
A Space to Focus
Keeping this goal actually takes a little organization on my part. I need to make sure to schedule my practice into each 24 hour period and keep my space organized so that I am motivated to follow through every day. It’s important to me that my room is clean and clutter-free. I need to keep the visual distractions to a minimum, so I can focus on my breathing and get the most out of my practice. I also enjoy using an essential oil diffuser .
The scent of energizing Orange oils in the air is a great pick me up first thing in the morning. Lavender oil is a relaxing scent for the end of the day.
Also, during these cold winter months I put on a pair of my favorite grippy yoga socks so I'm not distracted by my feet feeling cold.
I start each day with a fresh perspective, a new intention and a sense of accomplishment.
If you have already fell by the wayside on your 2019 resolution, it’s not too late!
Alter it to make it a little more attainable and get back on the resolution wagon!
It’s important to prove to ourselves that we can do anything we put our minds to!
I will continue posting on my yoga practice progress.
Until then... Namaste and Happy New Year !
